Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

It depends on the purpose
Nowadays, technology is used in a bad way but also in good way. For the ones who want to ease their lives, to entertain or to be in trends, technology is a wish. For sick people, technology is a need because they must be treated in the best way.
I used my last phone for about five years.
I agree with you, I also think that technology can be used in good and bad ways. I now people who always want the newest model of everything, even if the "old" one still works. In my opinion, I don't need always the new model because it's a waste to throw away the old one.
But somtimes there are people who need this technology for exemple for work, or as you sayed, to keep alive sick people..... I think sometimes we have to learn how use technology for better purposes.
