Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Need or Want? Differences?
Hi I'm Nico, I'm Swiss and I want to talk about my experiences. I am a boy who has learnt at so much time which are the differences between wanting and needs. If we needs a thing we can't live without this, because without the necessary thing for live we can't be well or exist. We today don't realise, that we don't make anymore distinction between wanting and needing. If we want something, we take it and do not ask ourselves if it's really necessary. If we want have a small carbon footprint, it's necessary renounce to the superfluous things. My experiences are some to regard, because I have improved very much my carbon footprint starting doing not much expensive but very important sacrifices. I think that if all make these sacrifices (and all can do these!) the world can be more clean!
I really agree with you! Today a lot of people buy something because is modish or because they think that they need it. We don't want "to be different" or "to not be quite up with the times" very often, so we think that buy always something new makes the difference. As you say, we have to think well before buying something and consider if we really need it
I think that whenever we buy something, we only want it to be able to show it off to others. if that desire was totally gone, then i'm sure we would only want to buy things that we needed, because the want to be able to brag to others would be gone. life would be so much easier if we didn't feel the need to prove we were better or "higher" than other people
I think that sometimes "things" that might not seem necessary often times are. We need things to raise our self esteem, but I do think that only goes to a certain extent.
I also agree. Many things may seem like a want but they are actually a need. Some people also buy things to either raise their self esteem, or just because they enjoy spending money on something they will enjoy.
I agree, we need to refine the line between need and want.
Prior to this, our decision-making skills in buying products will need to improve, thinking about how what we buy affects our carbon footprint. We will need to decide what things we need and what things we want, and think about how much it would affect the environment.
I agree with you but we need to do more then just think about what we purchase. We need to take into consideration how much we drive, how much power we use, and if we recycle or not.
I agree. My purchases number was actually pretty low because we use the things we have until they break before we just go buy new ones because we want to. There are lots of ways to reduce our carbon footprint though, not just with buying things.
I agree with you, most of the time our generation will fuss over something we don't need, like a new phone, the one you have is great but the newest is out so let me just through this one away, our generation needs to learn not to waste such valuable items and be happy with what you have.
