Nowadays all the people have a mobile phone and use it not only to phone or to write messages, but also to take photographs, surf in the webs, etc... This is normal, because mobile phones are more and more great in a time, who the technology is in progress. Some companies like Apples or Samsung work also for the appearance, so these mobile phones attract us more and more.
This aspect prove that we decide to change our mobile phone to be in fashion, even if we don't really need it. I think, we sometimes lose the utility of the technology and we're easily influenced by the fashion, without thinking about the waste and the consecutive CO2 emission in the environment.

You make a great point! I would have never thought as wanting a new more advanced phone as a fashion. If you think about it fashion is being in style and if you do not have the latest and hottest technology your not "cool". Not many people consider or are concerned about CO2 emission maybe because they do not realize how serious the problem is. If they were more informed they might be more concerned!

I think you have some good observations. What I think you are really getting at is the "Keeping Up with the Jones" phenomena where people buy items and material goods to benchmark where the fall in the social ladder. Failing to do this can result in stigmatization. And I agree phones are sort of a fashion. I've actually observed someone look down upon another person for still having a flip phone. I also think people do ponder enough on the environmental impacts iPhones and other technology has on the Earth. We are using precious resources.
