Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

A Changing Economy- Wants vs. Needs
Many people would say that having the newest smart phone is a want, and there can be an argument made for that side of the case. But in my opinion, having this latest technology is becoming more of a need each and every day. Although I don't believe everyone needs the latest iPhone of Android, the need for having a smart phone in general is becoming a necessity. Without a smartphone, many people wouldn't be able to communicate with others because their phones store all their contacts, and I'm not sure of anyone who can memorize 50 of their friends' numbers off the top of their heads. Another way smart phones are becoming a need instead of a want is because banks are encouraging online transactions more and more by the day and pretty soon people without access to smartphones are going to be left in the dust. Smart phones help with so many tasks that used to be a pain in the butt, such as checking the weather, looking up a recipe, or clocking in for work. Each day, the need for a smart phone increases, and this is why I believe owning a smart phone is more of a need than a want.
