Many people thought that we don't need cell phones, we only want them. But I don't think so. In my opinion, we wanted cell phone at the beginning, but we can't live without it now. Like cooked food, people didn't need to eat cooked food in the ancient time, but now few of us live eat raw food anymore. So nowadays, people can't live without cell phone any more and it become a need.

I think that what you have written is right, but in these times the phones are necessary for various reasons. In our days, compared to a few years ago, there are kinds with 10 years that have already a prestigiuous phone that don`t use for useful purposes, but they use them for play and that kids should know how to live without cell phone but it’s not like that. Over the kids also we guys don`t use always  the mobile phone only for useful purposes, but, for example I use it for chatting whit friend most of the time.
So we can say that on the one hand  we need the phone but in another we want the phone, and  this depense on how we use it and, above all, who use it.

I also agree with your post. I think that over a period of time we grew the need for cellphones. We have family and friends that live far away from us. Back then they didn't have family or friends that lived far away so they can just send a telegram or visit them. So in conclusion i think that cellphones are more of a need instead of a want.

we need a cell phone so they can contact you or the police in case of an emergency. They also need it in case they need to be picked up if stranded on in a situation where they are receiving peer pressure to do something they should not. Lastly, it could be used to track them if they go missing

Yes, It's obvious that we need the mobile phone, but we don't need to have the best latest newest most expensive phone on the market. Somethings are needed and others aren't needed. Be careful whit your actions, you can destroy the planet.

Hey! I'm Xenia from Greece! The cell phone is a "want"! The industries with the commercials on TV make us believe that the cell phone is a "need"! But is not a "need"! If someone cant be saparated from his phone that means that he is addicted to this! For example , I can be separated from my phone for many hours , but someone else can't leave his phone from his hand!
Go back to the past! About 200 years ago!
People could easily live without a cell phone! So we!

Interesting conversation.   I think for safety reasons,  I cell phone is necessary.  Our family does not own an automobile and we walk and wait for buses all the time.    We have used the cell phone many times due to snow storms.  These storms can cause school closings, work closings, public transportation closings and most recently,  we had a huge storm and everything was closed.   However,  the next day,  we still walked to the grocery store in the 3 feet to 4 feet of snow that fell.   It is a good feeling to know that a cell phone is handy and many times I have used it to call a cab if it was just too cold to walk.   Harrisburg, PA
