Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?
Wants or Needs? >
Wants or Needs of tech
Having the latest technology is certainly a want, as I myself do not have the latest pieces of technology, but pretty close to it. I did not jump on the iPhone bandwagon until I was in 8th grade, I didn't have any form of laptop until I got a Chromebook in the same year, and I certainly don't have anything invented past 2012. My most modern item is the laptop I type with. I am certainly addicted to the things that my computer can do, however, and I am having trouble ending my addiction to do homework. I can break the addiction, however, if I simply cut off contact for a little while, but I do not do that. A study published in 2011 has stated and proven that technology does have psychological impacts. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3220824/
And I can easily google in "technology environmental impacts" and there are so many other sources that prove that this has a huge negative impact on our environment.
Ironically, using technology to do it.
