Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint.
My total footprint is 9290 kgs of CO2 per year, compared to
an average of 2338 kgs for China, and 3791 kg (= 8358 lb) worldwide.
I feel that amount of carbon I use was very surprising.According to this data what I can do to lower my carbon use through recycling the materials that can be and reduce the high energy stuff using. And from my data of carbon using is obviously higher that the average of china.
Name: Sydney
From: Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
Age: 15
My carbon footprint was 10,208 kgs. This is below the average carbon footprint for North Carolina but around the average. The majority of my footprint came from food. My results were about what I thought they were going to be but I thought the majority would be on transportation. I learned that I should help to reduce my carbon footprint, especially when it comes to food such as eating more locally grown foods.
Your carbon footprint is actually really good below your close to average.
Hello.I have many thoughts on how to make a change in our carbon footprints. For an example, lets talk about home. We all forget about lights in our house. Most people leave one light bulb on for more than 3.5 hours. Everyone including myself can make sure to turn off lights in a room once they leave a room. Also, taking longer showers will make a change in our carbon footprints. On average, a person takes approximately 8.2 minutes in the shower. During that time, we use about 17.2 gallons of water. I think we can make a change in our carbon foot prints by not taking as long of showers.
Hello. I have many thoughts about how we can change our carbon footprint. I am going to talk about purchases. We all buy things (or we make our parents buy it) that we don't necessarily need. One way I can make my carbon footprint decrease is to buy less expensive clothing, or anything I purchase. Including my self, we all think we need the best of anything we buy. Another way i can decrease my carbon footprint buy purchasing things is to buy things I would actually need. An average American household spends about 3.8 % of their income on clothing. Instead of buying things that I will probably will only use one or two times, I can use my money wisely and buy things that I will use daily. That is how I can make a change in my carbon footprint by purchasing things.
Well it is good that it is average rather than above average, maybe start giving your unwanted things to other people rather than throwing it away.
Maybe you should use less water and tun the lights off sometimes. But it looks great.
My advice would be to turn lights off more because 3 hours at a time is a long time.
You can make sure you turn off all the lights in your house and unplug unnecessary items plugged in to the wall using energy.
I agree 100% with you because I think that we should turn off the lights when we leave the room because when you leave the lights on you are just racking up the electricity.
And if you have stuff that is plugged in that you are not using then you should unplug it because it is racking up our electricity also could get solar lights or you could just open the curtains so the lights comes into the house.
And you should take shorter showers because the longer you are in the shower the more you are wasting waterSome people just use the water to warmer themselves up and that's wasting the water
there are 6 people that live in my house and when we all take showers.
We are using a lot of water everyday we have to take a shower and we all take about 10 minutes and sometimes we have to wait to take showers because there some times will be 2 people will be taking a shower at the same time so the water will be really slow and cold.
My carbon footprint was 8,557 kgs. Home: 3,864 kgs. Food: 2,159 kgs. Purchases 353 kgs. Transportation: 2,181 kgs.
