Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Want it or Need it?
Wants, what people want would be for example electronics, like a laptop. What you really only need in life is; food, water and shelter. The only way you can get what you want is if you have what you need. In America most everyone has what they need and a lot of what they want. sadly, in Africa some people don't even have clean drinking water.
Arguably, in this day and age laptops have become necessary for most people. It keeps people connected and provides a more efficient way to work, learn, and discuss (e.g. this forum). Being more connected as a society has made us far more effective, and modern technology has become incredibly effective in solving problems. Provided it is used in the right ways, we need technology such as computers if we want to solve the world's problems.
