Technology: To be blunt, technology is a need in terms of communication. We are not going to go back to writing letters to communicate. Cell phones (mostly) , laptops, and desktops allow immediate communication. However, technology is a want in the same situation. People constantly want the newest models and companies continue to recycle the same models, make a small adjustment and call it new. The newest model isn't needed especially  because it is the same thing.

I agree with you Anthony. Technology is only improving. Our generation only uses technology (Iphones, computers, tablets etc.). I think a lot of us use technology because of social media. Like you said, we communicate with technology. And I think a lot of us like to communicate a lot through social media (instagram and snapchat). I think it can also be a need because it is the way we do our work and write papers.

I agree with both Julia and Anthony but Julia do we really need our computers to work and write papers. In many other countries kids and people learn and work through other ways and are fine doing that. I think of technology as more of a want than a need. You can do work with out your computer but it makes things a lot easier with technology that is why it is more of a want not a need for me.

I think in this day and age technology is more for a need than a want. Also, Layla, comparing the writing habits we have on computers to possibly underdeveloped countries shows which direction the world is developing on in a want or need scale. As of present day technology is a need in the United States as well as other first world countries, and it is continuing to grow as a need in the rest of the country.

Layla, technology is helping us today with the war and all our problems. We might not be able to find half the information without technology. How would we find out about political nominations or what happening with the other countries? You could read the newspaper but you only get it once a day. With technology, its with you wherever you go whenever you want.

I think what Layla is trying to say is that finding out what is happening in other countries is a want, not a need. Technology is such a huge part of our society and as far as documents go, by saving paper we are decreasing the carbon footprint as the process of making paper requires lots of energy.
