Having the latest technology is only a want because every person on this planet can live without having the newest and latest technology out. The United States has raised the new generation into believing that the newest and latest things can better yourself in life, a statement that is not close to true.  What truly matters with new technology is how you use it to better others and the environment. I believe that people's wrong judgement of what they want and need has costed Americans across the country millions of dollars, money that could've been used to better the environment and the community around them.

I agree with you 100% Adrian. America's avarice for the latest technology has indeed caused us to squander money as if it grows on trees. Technology is a need for certain purposes, such as immediate communication. The latest technology, however, is not necessarily a need. Not only Americans but people worldwide should learn and recognize the difference between a want and a need. Technology emits greenhouse gases, and if everyone buys the latest technology, more greenhouse gases will be emitted, which will later cause global warming.
