Yes and no, some people without mobile devices are at a social disadvantage. in today's society because teens communicate mostly by text or social media. No you don't need the greatest and latest phone but phones do help keep teens connected.

Nope, just because it puts you at a disadvantage, that doesn't make it a need. For example, not having a toilet is a disadvantage, but they aren't a necessity.
