Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?
Wants or Needs? >
Want or need
A want by definition, is to have a desire to posses or do something. For example, having the latest technology or the newest clothing is a want. A need by definition, is a requirement because it is essential or very important. A basic need is food, water, and shelter. The difference between a want and a need is that a need is something that will benefit you in life but a want is just something that will not benefit you in the long run.
I agree with you Austin on the analogy of wants or needs. I think technology is a want to. My question to you is technology for teenagers a need or a want? What do you guys think?
I think that people should focus more on their actual needs in life instead of using things or buying things just because they want to. Technology for teenagers is definitely a want because the teenagers from when there was no technology turned out perfectly fine without it.
I agree with you Nicole, Some technology for teenagers is a want and not a need. But here at Bishop O'Dowd we must all have laptops because we do lots things using technology everyday. Does anyone else have ideas of technology that is essential for teenagers?
I agree with Nicole and Austin. People should be more focused on their needs than their wants. People should be focused on saving materials.
