Having the latest technology is a want. But, having technology is a need. It is a way of communication and a way to do school work. I get a new phone every couple of years. My phone broke, so I needed a new one. I do not really think about how it impacts the environment when I buy the phone. I am not really addicted to my phone. I try to stay off of it.

This is true. Technology today has become a need in our society. Students do their homework online and many jobs require technology as well. However, there is a thin line between wants vs. needs. My school requires a laptop, so I have a laptop. But generally speaking, we do not need a smart watch or a hover board. Those things are not necessities in today's society. And it should be made aware that the technology that is necessary should be cut back and reduced more than it is today. And yes, every so often we need a new piece of technology, but a new phone released every year is excessive and definitely contributes to the rise in carbon in our atmosphere. Much of technology is simply there to appeal to people's wants, not their needs.
