Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?
Wants or Needs? >
Wants VS Needs
There is a very fine line between a want and a need. Although it is very hard to identify that a want might not be the best thing for our planet, we must try our best to identify how badly we really need something.
I agree that there is a fine line between a want and a need, and I think our society has trouble distinguishing what a need is in this day and age. 30-50 years ago, the latest technology did not feel like a need for people globally. Now, everyone has a cellphone on them and is clamoring for the latest one. In the 21st century, because so many jobs, schools, and daily life relies on the ability to contact people with email and texting, it can become a need, not for survival, but still a need.
That line is so fine, sometimes you can't even see it. I want a lot of things but I do not need them. One time I bought something that I wanted but didn't need.
I agree that we need to define the difference between a want and a need. We should sacrifice our wants if they are causing damage to the earth .
I agree that there is a very fine line between a want and a need. A lot of needs can harm the environment. The harm that many of these needs can make the Earth bad for future generations.
I agree completely and maybe with the wants instead of going out and buying something brand new you can buy it used.
