you dont need your phone to live

That is actually a statement that could be argued. Yes one could live perfectly fine without the use of a cellphone, but it also has some very important factors when using it. It connects us in ways that couldn't be done before. Such as sending a letter would take weeks, months maybe, to reach it's destination and if it's something urgent time may have already worn out. When you could send a text and have it pop up in a matter of minutes, alerting whomever you're sending it to quickly. It also could help bring law enforcement instead of having to cry out for help in hopes of someone hearing and doing something. So it is something that makes living better, safer, and easier. But then against you are right, it disconnects us as people in a way. Such as two people could be sitting right next to each other and be texting, when really they could just turn and converse. It also takes away from communicating regularly, people find it hard or uncomfortable even. It takes  away from that regular social experience that were mean't enjoy, but don't. All because of cellphones, so really. Your statement if a 50/50 argument.
