Wants or Needs?

Is having the latest technology a want or a need?

How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Wants vs Needs

Depending on the person, technology can be a need or a want. For example, mp3 players, televisions and hover boards are just wants because they do not actually help our everyday lives and are mostly for entertainment purposes.
Then there is more advanced technology that power air planes, help with school work and give people jobs. Those I would consider and need because they help us live.

Personally I do use technology all the time without thinking about how it affects the environment at all. I wouldn't say I'm addicted because I am not obsessed with having the newest model of my phone and I don't spend hours and hours on my phone. But I don't use it throughout my day. To someone who is addicted, I would suggest taking a week, or at least a day off from using technology.

I am a person that is partially addicted to my phone and Ipad. I think I could probably not stay off of it for a day because I love instagram but in the future I could try to stay off of it

I completely agree with you that technology is a need or a want. It is very crazy how we don't realize that using technology has impacts on our environment.

I think that you are correct about technology and that it should be used in moderation

I agree with your post. Technology is a want not a need. People do need to stop using technology so much.

I agree with your statement. However, I don't think the technology in schools and jobs are a necessity. Granted they help people accomplish their tasks faster, but people would still be able to function and do their work properly without technology.

I think that technology can be used in moderation. Obviously technology has become a necessity in a social and cultural sense throughout the US through social media and communication. Yet, the question becomes whether it is a necessity to replace already functional models in order to get unnecessary features such as better photo pixilation or a fingerprint scanning home button.
