How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

I've seen people beg for something like a phone and I just wonder, "Is this really something that's worth to be needed? And if not then is it really a wanting manner?" I always thought the more important things in life were just good food and water, yet others think technology runs their own life. I guess there's more to wanting that meets the eye.
