I believe that at some points we need technology but at other points we just want it. In some cases, like when a person first has a job, or its a first day at school, you might need to contact certain people easily like contacting your parents. Although, other times people just want a phone or some kind of technology to play games or have social media which is all very nice except not always needed. Therefore, only sometimes is technology a need over a want.

I agree with you! I feel like many people over the years have become very dependent on technology, so much that they feel like they couldn’t live without it. In some cases technology can be very useful, such as doing school or job work, but many conveniences technology gives us aren’t necessary. Social media, games, even the internet are very fun and helpful, but aren’t completely essential. Personally, I find it hard to not use technology to connect with friends or do research, but I do understand that it is not need, but a want. However, our generation is so used to the advantages technology provides us that we find ourselves relying on it for everything. According to Concordia University Saint Paul (http://online.csp.edu/blog/psychology/t … dependency), fifty six percent of Americans own a phone and all of them report that they feel somewhat addicted or reliant on their devices. This study was conducted in 2013 and with new innovations left and right, I can only imagine what the statistics are now.

I agree with you and I understand your view. I do think that in many ways technology is a good advancement that sets our world to lead and explore new ideas. Technology allows us to talk to whomever we want whenever we want. We can look up unknown things in an instance or contact a person with an emergency. However there are also downsides to technology that we have at our finger tips. Social media, television, and games are fun to have but are not needed. They can be very distracting from important things that are needed to get done like academic opportunities. There are both positives and negatives to having technology but I think that having simple technology is just a want.

I agree also. I think that technology is helpful to us in a lot a ways and makes communicating a lot easier. But I also think a lot of times we get it into our heads that we always have the newest phones or computers. I think having all of these devices definitely helps us but also distracts us and increases our carbon footprint, from just using them.
