Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Is technology a want or a need?
I think technology is a want, but can also be a need because of our advanced society. In modern society, technology is used for many different everyday purposes, including communication and education. For example, cell phones allow us to talk to people all around the world and are very useful in emergencies. Also, computers are very useful tools to teach and learn. I think having the latest technology is a want, but a basic form of technology could be viewed as a need. I get the latest technology as soon as my technology breaks, which is about 3 years for phones. Technology continues to get better and more efficient and the latest models can do incredible things. However, I don't think constant new models of technology are necessary.
I think the technology you're talking about becomes a want or a need depending on how you use it. Modern technology is not an essential need like food or water, but for some people, it forms their livelihood. A modern cellphone is a lot more of a need to someone who lives in an area where transportation is difficult than it is to most people who live in urban areas with hubs of communication. Modern technology like computers are also very important to medicine, and while it's not necessarily a "need" to have good and precise healthcare, it's very helpful. Modern technology makes our lives easier and better, but I don't think they form a need the same way more basic things do.
Technology is very important, but it all depends on how you use it. For education it is very effective because it reduces the amount of paper used, and allows teachers to communicate with students outside of school. Some technology on the other hand is a want like xbox, and other gaming consoles. You could argue that we do not need technology, which is true but technology helps reduce paper waste, and also allows for people to hear about what is going on in our world. For example global warming, if people did not have technology less people would be aware of global warming, and would have a hard time knowing what they can do to help. Technology also lets people know about the bad things that are going on, making it harder for companies to do things that are bad for the environment like getting rid of waste illegally. This is because everyone would know what they did and they would lose sales. In the end technology is not a necessity, but it can be very important.
I Think it really depends on what technology you mean. When it comes to cell phones and iPads, I think it's a want. I mean 20 years ago we didn't really have them, and we where fine. However if you mean medical technology then I think that can be considered a need. Although again some things we could have lived without, but without some technological advances we might have a whole different world.
technology is a need because it is all around us it helps us with our everyday life. The world as gotten so used to it that if it were taken away people would be lost and have no way to communicate with one another.b And as it becomes more4 developed and becomes smarter the more humans will depend on it. Technology is now apart of the world just like anything else. The question is what would the human race today be like without it? do you think we would be more intelligent or less smart. Would we have another way of communicating or stick to the old ways by letters
