I believe that most of the technology we use are wants, but in some instances you can argue that it is a need. I consider technology a want because of the fact that we can live without it. Just think of some things in your life that you need, such as oxygen, water, and food, These are things we need and cannot function without. Does technology fit under this category? No. I do feel that technology is definitely a need in the government and military so it can protect our country. But for the most part, I would consider technology as a want mainly because we can function without it.

I agree with you on that. The latest technology is just a want because we can totally survive without it. But what I really want to say is that want might become a need in the future, like the minority of technology that you didn't talk about. It is because our society is still growing. It is hard to predict. When something becomes really important to people, it is a need.

Technology is a want and a need, but mainly a want. A lot of schools are switching to digital media, as all or most of my assignments are on a website called schoology. Technology does amazing things for us, just think about Watson. Technology is also helping us find medical breakthroughs and ways to do things better. But faster and better machines aren't always great for the environment. I do think we can function without most technology, but some is needed to help control our environment and keep people healthy.

Technology use is inevitable. The people that want to be successful in todays world need to be updated and proficient with it. There's really no way around it.

I feel that the technology that we use is a need as well, but I do think that it is still beneficial to our everyday lives, for instance if you get lost in a store or something you can call your parents or friends who are with you. i think we need technology because without technology we wouldn't be able to communicate and also because if we didnt have technology we would not know whats going on outer space and their would be no power we wouldnt be able to survive without technology

I agree with all of your comments because you can see it from both ways. In todays society, electronics are such a big part of peoples lives. For example, we are all in contact and able to talk to each other through electronic use! Also, for my school, it was mandatory to have a computer. Electronics have grown so much in todays society and has become a need.
Others can see it as a want as well because life is possible to go on without electronics because it has happened before. People want electronics like everyone else.

A lot of our technology has been put into hospitals, to extend and give others lives that they wouldn't have had before these technologies existed. For example, my grandfather had spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the spinal discs. Until he was able to have a unit put into his back, he was constantly in pain and could barely move from his chair. The technological unit that they gave him was revolutionary. It was surgically attached to the discs in his back and was controlled by an ipod touch. With the ipod he could configure the settings to numb the the pain and ultimately improve his life for 15 more years. Although technology can be viewed negatively, the amount on influence it has on helping others in the medical field is astonishing, so with that I have to say that technology is definitely a need for modern day society
