Greener, not less, air travel
After looking over my total carbon footprint, I find myself in need of better air transportation. I regularly travel out of the country every year, and it is extremely important for me as it allows me to connect with my original culture and extended (as everyone besides my parents and sister live in South America) family. For this reason, I find myself unable to make the decision to stop visiting them. I would not be surprised if there were many other people like me and as such I believe that it is necessary for their to be a new focus on eco-friendly air travel.
Furthermore, air travel is not always used as a luxury. I have seen many times when my mother needed to go on a plane for her work. And even though it could be replaced with video/phone calls in some jobs, there are some people such as construction workers or hotel inspectors who simply must be there on site.

I agree that traveling for work and to see friends and family is important but, the effects on our earth are terrible. I read an article from the Washington Post about this company who has come out with a new engine that reduces their carbon footprint as well as noise emission! Hello, after reading your post I have some for ways you could reduce your footprint the most while flying. you could travel non stop flights or directs flights so that you don't make any unnecessary stops. Also there are options to fly eco-friendly, greenopia airlines use more efficient fuel or look for eco-friendly airports. Air lines that have more economy seats also have a lower footprint.
