I believe that technology is a want because most humans can survive without it. If someone is dependent on technology to survive then it is a want but otherwise I think it is just an object to have. Technology is useful for communicating and connecting with other's which is how many people have adapted their lifestyle today. Social Media is not necessary but other sources of communication is.

I agree with this because people don't need to technology to survive. It is an amazing commodity that if very useful to have and helps out by making normally life a lot easier but it is definitely not a need. People lived and thrived before there was technology so we can do the same.

The biggest proof that technology isn't a necessity is that humans survive for thousands of years without the technology we have today. It is certainly helpful, and has contributed hugely to health developments, scientific progress, and worldwide communication. Humans today have adjusted to having the technology available, and now it would be very difficult to go back from the progress we've made- people now rely on pacemakers and other medical technology, as well as what we consider to be basic "necessities". I think instead of focusing on dropping all technology and developments we've made, it is more important to develop technology that can lower carbon reductions. We need to make progress instead of going backwards.

I both agree and disagree with this statement. While some technology such as iPhones and tablets aren't necessary, other forms of technology are vital to our survival. Some people require machinery to live such as a dialysis machine, it allows people to live and without it, there would be a lot more deaths around the world. In my opinion, all technology/machinery that is strictly used for pleasure is not essential to the human lifestyle. In conclusion, I think that any solely pleasure-based technology should not be seen as essential.

At this point in time technology is a need. People's entire lives are through technology. You can get research quicker. Write quicker. Get in touch with people quicker. It is fast tracking our generation. But it is a need because a pencil and paper and mail and newspapers have been extradited and going back would be incredibly difficult for people. Also people have become a custom to having technology in their lives. Taking it away would completely change the way we live. It is a need

Technology is a want. We can live without technology and some people already do. It is a commodity not a necessity. People can do research in a library. Write by hand. Communicate through mail instead of email.  And it would actually do us all some good. Because people are way too addicted to their phones anyway. So it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I agree with you. I believe that it is a want. People rely on it to much because it is so available to us now in days. People take advantage and use a lot of the technology even though we can live without it.

I agree that technology is not a need but sometimes it can be nice. The use of technology in schools cuts down on a lot of paper usage. As long as we get the full use out of every device instead of just getting the new "cool" thing, technology does not have to be terrible.

I believe that one can reduce their carbon footprint by being proactive and more efficient. Simply, by recycling is a easy way to reduce the footprint. Rather than tossing plastic in the trash recycle. Rather than a need technology is a want but its advanced. Technology is the future, its better for the planet to cut down on tree by making things electronic.
