Technology, a Want or a Need?
These days, everywhere you look you see kids, teens, adults, everyone on their cell phones. There is a major difference between wanting technology and needing it. For example, we need nutrients to live but cell phones are wanted because they are a passageway to quick entertainment and communication, yet, humans do not require them to live. Of course, without technology assisting our everyday lives, nothing would be as efficient. Technology has a great impact on our lives and the world around us, but if it wasn't here, humans would still be able to find their way through life. Technology supports us everyday but it is a wanted support not a needed support.
Many people don't realize how much technology is harming the atmosphere. According to, "Restart, The Footprint of Those Iphones", The carbon emissions of an individual cellphone made by apple increased by 56kg over the course of just six years. Apple produced around 80 million iphones in just one year, releasing a total of over 1 billion kilograms of carbon. No wonder the climate is changing! Mass amounts of carbon is being released by factories therefore altering the atmosphere.
In order to decrease the amount of carbon emissions, people should stop buying cell phones so frequently. If we all kept the same cell phone for five years before we got a new one, the need to produce so many cell phones would decrease greatly, therefore lowering the amount of carbon emissions from technology companies, and helping to stop climate change.
