Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint (North Carolina, NC, USA)
Hey everyone! My name is Raven! I am 17 years old and am from Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States.
My total carbon footprint was 11,169kgs. I am below average compared to my region. The majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation because of how much I travel in a car. I expected my results to be below average because of my home appliances and low purchases. I was really surprised at how much of a footprint was left from food. I love food, specifically meat. I learned a lot from the food footprint and didn’t know that meat had such a big impact.
I could probably decrease my transportation by carpooling with other people instead of traveling alone or with family. I could also watch what I eat and consider the consequences of eating meat or chicken a lot.
I had a high transportation footprint, too. I think that in America we tend to drive everywhere without thinking about the impact.
Hello there! Do you need to travel by car? Maybe you shoud use public transport or walk sometimes? ![]()
Hi! I am James from China. I also have a majority of my carbon footprint that comes from the transportation. But the difference is that I take the airplane too frequently in order to travel to different provinces in China. I have also never thought about the bad consequence from the flights. So I believe I should take the trains to these places more frequently instead of the airplanes in order to protect the environment. And maybe it is more fun!
