Do we really need to keep our house warm all the time?
After I calculate my carbon footprint, I had a bigger score than I expected and it was bigger than the average. I verified why, and I found out that at fault is that we are using stoves that are alimented by wood to warm our house. I think that is not necessary to swich our stoves with a gas network, but we can reduce the carbon emanation by warming our house enough. We do not need to have the same temperature in the winter season as it was in summer, we don't need to wear t-shirts and short pants all seasons of the year and we don't need to warm our whole house all day. If we warm up the rooms in which we are staying during the day it's ok, but, during the night, the greatest option is to cover yourself in a lot of warm blankets. Also, if we have the chance to stay in the same room with our family or other persons, we can learn a lot of things and have an interesting talk with them.
I think it just depends on where you live- if you live in colder parts of the world, it would be more ideal to have your house warmer during the day, and if you live in warmer parts, then it's not necessary. It also depends on what one has access to. If one has access to a heating and cooling system, I'd figure they'd use it to their advantage. However, I do agree that we do need to keep in mind how much energy we're actually using up.
