How 3D printing could help save the earth.
Recently I acquired a 3D printer, and while you might not think of them as the most sustainable product. I have found that they could be used to decrease the amount of products we buy. The filament that most people use is called PLA or Polylatic Acid, and its a VERY strong but biodegradable plastic made from corn starch. Knowing this, I have printed several things that I would normally go to a store and buy, for example I needed an SD card case for my camera and decided to print one instead of going and ordering one. This saves so much energy when you think about it, the delivery truck that ships it to you and the injection molding machine that made the case, not to mention the fact that its not biodegradable!
