Electronic Devices
A study done in 2010 reveals that electronics is contributing almost as much to global warming as the entire airline industry. Roughly 3% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from electronics, while airlines produce 4-5%. Considering it has been 8 years since the study was done, and technology is only becoming more advanced, I'm sure these numbers have only increased. I think it's important to avoid electronics as much as possible. Of course, in our modern world, it's nearly impossible to cut them out completely. However, turning off your phone and other devices more often around you would not only reduce your carbon footprint, but it would also allow you to enjoy the beautiful world we're trying so hard to protect.
Sydney, I think that your argument is definitely viable. If electrical devices were impacting our global carbon footprint by 3% eight years ago, then that number is probably far higher at the moment. I agree with your idea of rather than cutting ourselves off of electronics for good, we should simply turn them off and leave them alone whenever possible. Further, leaving your devices plugged in to charge overnight can affect your carbon footprint a lot, since they will constantly be fed electricity that they don't need even after they are finished charging. Therefore, if we were to simply be more mindful of how we use our devices, we could definitely fix the issues electronic devices cause.
