Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Overuse of Cell Phones
I think that cell phones are extremely useful in today's modern age, but it is not a need to have the latest model. When new phones are released and bought by customers, it affects our carbon footprints. By contributing to the amount of new phones sold, CO2 emissions are released into the air and this effects the Earth in harmful ways. The reduce of cell phone usage and production of new models can overall decrease the CO2 emitted into the Earth's atmosphere.
I agree to what you are saying. Cell phones are indeed an important part in modern day society, as most cannot live without them. Companies such as Google, Apple, and Samsung create these devices, but their companies rely on these products to keep them running. The economy surrounding technology is dependent on such sales. Do you think there can be another solution, or is this the only way we can improve?
I absolutely agree with your statement. The idea of cell phones has taken over our world. Not only does the production of cell phones raise CO2 levels but all of the accessories that come along with a new cell phone also increase CO2 levels. How we can reduce our CO2 footprint is by not always buying the new technology. I am not saying to get rid of cell phones, however, decrease how often we buy new ones.
I agree with everything you stated above. With this generation, phone use is everywhere which is making the supply of phones become greater and the amount of CO2 increase. Due to there being so many people, factories are becoming bigger trying to keep up with the amount of phones they need to release.
I agree with you but I dont think that people have the mentality to stop buying new products, buying new phones give some kind of pleasure to the buyer. And you cant make companies stop producing new phone because they make money off of it. The only way you could do such thing is to ban buying new phone while you have a phone that is functioning and that is not possible in todays society.
I agree that we need to focus a lot less on buying the newest product just because we want them, even though our current, older electronics work. These high tech, expensive products we love are harmful to our environment. They create a lot of CO2 in their production and so do all the accessories we buy to go with these gadgets. I think a possible solution for when we feel like we really want to buy the new phone or tablet is that when you buy the new thing, don't just let your old gadget lie around. Repurpose it. Make your old phone useful by donating to it an e-waste drive or someone else who could use it. This way, the product does not go to waste and the effort put into making it pays off.
