I think that technology is mostly a want. Many people buy the new Amazon Alexa, Ipads, and Play Stations for entertainment. Those new technologies are more of a want because they aren't necessary in our everyday life. I understand why technology can be a need. For example, majority of workers depends on computers and their phones to get their job done. I need a phone to get updates in my classes and to seek help from my classmates when I have questions about school. The answer for "Is technology a want or a need?" depends on the intentions of the person.

Technology is a need because as we grow technology become more advanced and we rely on it to work. Look at the computer, it can be used as a source of entertainment and work.

Technology is not a need. Humans have survived for many years without it. However, technology has increased the average human lifespan and just made life easier. (such as the washing machine and oven)

I disagree, technology is a need. In the ancient times, the wheel was a new tech, look how useful it has proven itself. Iron, copper, steel, tools, everything around you is technology. And the growth of its knowledge is exponential. Those original technologies are what allows us to further our understanding of the world. One day the items you mentioned, will be essential for human development.

Technology, to start with at least, is a need, in society as it is now that is. However, you don't need to get a new phone or new computer every year, just when the one you have stops functioning.

I agree, but I think it just depends on what it is for. Like when you were discussing the work and school. It may be  a need. But also what technology it is.

I think technology is a strong want bordering on necessity. It is slowly edging more toward being a need because of how new societies are built, including the fact that I am using technology to express my opinion as opposed to discussing my ideas with someone in person.

i think that technology is becoming more and more a need: it's impossible to live if you don,t have it (in the reach countries), but it's not needed to buy a new product. Sometimes you have to get a new one because the oldest doesn't work any more.. An example is when your phone has to upgrade and you cannot do it because you  have no more memory. Besides playing some games (playstation, xbox, ...) helps you to release the stress.

I agree with @shayanameg. Technology is a WANT. It is something you can live without. I agree that this day and age we use technology for EVERYTHING, and that it might be hard to live without it. Everyone talks to everyone on their iPhone or whatever the latest Apple product is. But, it is possible. You can live an everyday life without a phone, or a computer at your fingertips. A need is something that you can absolutely live without. For example, food and water. Those are things that we need to survive, or we would die. Technology wouldn't fit in that category

I think that technology is a need especially now that we are more modernized. I say this because we need technology for many things. One thing we need it for is to keep up, for example, if we did not have technology we could not tell if there was a tornado or we would not know the time. On the other hand, some technology is there for fun like everybody said pcs, Playstations, iPhones are all for entertainment and communication.

It depends on what we use technology for. If we are using it for work and school then yes it can be a need, and if we are using it just for social media and games then its a want. social media can make technology a need to because like google it helps us search things up we do not know and want to learn about.

I fully agree with this because people more use technology for a want more than they need it. Like you said technology is both a need and a want. I say this because it helps further and make stuff like agriculture better and more sustainable. For our growing population we need more and more food. The better technology can help us get the food that we need.

This is a very interesting topic that i have not seen brought up before. I agree that some people use technology as more of a use of entertainment or in the "Want" category. But as you stated people need technology for their jobs and or school. As we grow their will be more and more technology just for the want of it, but there will also always be jobs that depend solely on that technology.

I have mixed thoughts about this statement because I feel as if we have been though to think that without technology we cannot function or stay in contact with everyone. Yet when you look back in time our grandparents and great grandparents lived without it and functioned just fine. Technology does have pros and cons and has helped expand our knowledge of the world, but at the end of the day, I think that technology is a want, not a need because without technology society will continue to change and our knowledge will expand it would just take a longer time.

I only partly agree with you. I believe technology has become such a major part of our lives that it is practically a necessity now. Getting the brand new iPhone every year isn't a necessity, that is a want. However having technology and easy access to the internet makes you have really great and easy access to helpful information. Someone who is on their computer all day should invest a good amount of money and resources in to that computer, and try to cut down on other things. Basically the point I'm trying to make here is that technology is practically a necessity now because of how often it is used in society, BUT you don't need to buy the new phone every year, or you buy a new computer every year. THAT is when technology becomes a want.

I agree with the idea that only come technology is a need to keep up in with modern day. However, some technology is excessive such as alexas or apple watches. This being said, these are all advancements to technology which is critical to human development and although they will not all change human society such as an invention such as cars, they advance human society so I do not support the idea of any kind of reduction to the creating of technology that are wants and not needs.

I agree that technology is a want but also a need because of today's world. We are in 21st century where the technology is one of the most important things for work, education, health and much more. Without it we wouldn't discover so much about the universe, our bodies and everything else. I think that now we can't live with it if we want to learn more about certain things that we are interested in. But also technology is a want because people are using it everyday just to talk to people like previously generations couldn't communicate with each other. Also people became obsessed with it and with buying mobile phones every year, we are becoming slaves of it.
