Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?
Wants or Needs? >
We don't really need it!
Before the time of electronics, people survived. There were other ways to find information, like a book or another person. When there wasn't electronics people would just knock on doors instead of sending a text or calling. In our era technically we can life without it, but with all of the new teaching strategies like schoology and myeducation and other things, it would make it hard to do your schoolwork or make plans with friends but it wouldn't be be imposible. I believe It is more a want than a need because like i said people can survive and some people do survive because they don't have the access.
I completely agree with you. Technology is definitely more of a want than a necessity for survival. However, more and more people are using it on a daily basis as it's true that electronic apps and devices make our lives more convenient and entertaining. In my opinion, technically electronics are a want, but people are shifting into the mindset of it being a "need" just because of all the benefits it brings.
I also agree that technology is more of a need than a want. And I also agree that people see it as a need because of the convenience it gives us. However, I don't think that convenience is always a priority. Sometimes you have to do things the harder way in order to have a better outcome. I would personally much rather look through a book than not have a future.
i agree with you. before technology people survived and flourished. however with the technology we have now days, we have become lazy in a way. If we want food but are too lazy to make it we just order online and get it delivered to our house. In fact some may also argue that technology has also made us dumber in way since we are now too blind to see what we are doing to the world we live in. But if we learn how to use technology in an effective way and use it to help us undo what we have done. It all depends on the person using it.
I also agree. we definitely want technology more than we need it. Technology is something that has only been recently introduced and we tend to rely on it more than ever. the amount of things we have found a shortcut through with technology is uncountable. If everyone always got the latest model of smartphone the amount of waste produced would be crazy. we have to begin to do things a little more "old fashion" more often so our world doesn't become a virtual reality.
I also agree that technology is a want rather than a need. although technology makes things easier, we can find other alternatives. instead of reaching out our phones and finding an answer we could flip through books and find information that isn't just a search button away. we all should definitely start by reducing our usage. making things easier for ourselves instead of saving our planet is a bit selfish don't you think?
I agree with that technology is more of a want. Like you mentioned people survived without it before and found ways to live. I feel like now in our time, society has put the idea that living without technology would be terrible and it's something that would be really strange, but people have survived without it before, and we need to learn that it isn't as important as we think it is. I have live been without my phone before and honestly I forgot that I even had a phone. It doesn't even matter and we really need to stop being greedy without technology because we really don't need it.
Before the time of electronics, people survived. There were other ways to find information...
I agree with everything you have said. Today there are many things that we chose to do because we believe it is easier or more efficient. Taking the extra step would help us all with our of our carbon footprints. Simply deciding to walk home from school or even bike to work can heavily reduce our carbon footprint. If every person in America rode bikes or walked more our overall carbon footprint could be greatly reduced.
I think technology carries with it an equal number of benefits as issues. With computers, paper production is decreased, and fewer trees are being used. However, the production of computers and all other technology is even more detrimental, so there is not a win nor a loss.
