Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Wants or Needs
Within our society, we have an innate desire to buy things that we don’t necessarily need, in order to satisfy ourselves. However, when doing this what we don’t always think about is theamount of energy put into making these products, and that after a few uses we will most likely throw those products away; once again contributing to the overall amount of waste on the planet and pollution. I believe that if before we bought something, we thought more deeply about whether that product was a want or a need, and the amount of time we would actually use that product. By asking ourselves these questions, we could greatly cut down on pollution and our overall carbon footprint.
I agree! Fast fashion is a major contributor to climate change, and just like you said people will most likely throw the products away. In fashion, it usually has to do with the products not being well made or the style being "out of season". If people begin to think more about how much worth being trendy has compared to the worth of the Earth's health state and how it will affect everyone and even themselves in the future, it may be easier for people to give up their fast fashion habits.
I agree. With all these new trends coming and going no one thinks about the effect it has on our environment. No one considers the pollution contributed to our air from factories making products to the planes/ships shipping the products and then the trucks driving them to the stores where they'll be purchased. The amount of pollution would be reduced if people stopped buying so many new items. Instead, people could shop more at thrift and confinement stores to find what they need. If we stop buying so many factory-made products factories would stop producing them at such a high rate.
