Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?
Wants or Needs? >
Buy the newest model, just throw it away when it breaks.
A lot of technology, especially nowadays, is given an artificially short life span. When you go to repair the damage, say your iPhone has a broken screen, you aren't allowed to repair it. iPhone refuses to allow outside companies to repair their things and would rather attempt to sell you the latest gadget they came out with that has features you don't need. With how much money Apple makes it's hard not to imagine that other companies will follow suit.
We don't need phones that can share charge by being placed back to back, we need chargers that last longer and more efficient batteries that don't harm our planet. We don't need a professional level camera in our phones, we phone that work well, last for a long time, and don't slow down when the next model comes out.
We don't need pointless additions that make a phone "better" that make next to no difference to your experience, we need things that actually benefit us and the planet.
