Transportation

I live in the bay area which is full of people. There are people from all over the world in the bay area. Having so many people here, there is a lot of cars, which leads to a lot of cars which leads to traffic. Now we have all been in traffic, and it's one of the worst things ever. I think taking public transportation would be more useful. Maybe we can all take the bus places or even the bike! Understanding you can't go to far on the bike, maybe using bart or the bus would be more helpful for traffic. Some people aren't capable of taking public transportation but I think if we all take public transportation whenever we can or have the choice, it would be helpful to help the big traffic situation in the bay area.

I agree with this statement because traffic is one of the biggest issues in society today as more crashes occur.  Public Transportation is a nice way to beat the traffic and a better way to protect our environment from crashes on the road.

I totally agree with you Ethan. In the Bay Area, there's a population of over 7 million people which certainly speaks for itself in reference to the traffic problem in the Bay Area. Our remedy to this problem would be to take public transportation, bike places, and walk to nearby places more often. If half of us in the Bay area, 3.5 million, would do this I'm sure that the traffic problem wouldn't really just stop but it would make a slight difference. Reducing traffic would benefit all of us in the Bay Area. It would make us that actually need cars get to places that we need to in a reasonable time and if they're less cars on the freeway it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Bay Area. Great job Ethan!

Agreed. Not only is public transportation fairly cheap and accommodating, it drastically reduces the carbon footprint of anyone who partakes in it. This makes public transportation financially, spatially, and environmentally sustainable. Obviously, people who own cars will always be inclined to use it as their primary if not sole transportation. This is simply a matter of convenience. However, if people living in cities would transport publicly whenever the opportunity arises, it would add up. Yes, everyone must contribute, but the contributions would not have to be a major sacrifice. Example of this would be: you take bart to San Fransisco instead of driving, you take the bus home from school every Tuesday and Thursday (which is what I do), or you ride your bike from Redwood Heights to Montclair. Once in the rhythm, these are painless changes that would greatly help the environment.

I think that if people were to walk or bike to places near by that could help reduce the carbon footprint in large families. There are many cars in large families and also if the families were to reduce the amount of cars that could also help.

I agree that traffic is a very big issue but, if we started using more public transportation it would cut down on it.  The good thing about this is that it would be killing two birds with one stone because it would also dramatically cut down on the carbon going into the atmosphere from all the cars because there would be less traffic and less cars on the road.   This would also save many people money if they don't have to drive a lot they wouldn't have to buy a car or they could save on gas.

I agree, I think that using public transportation is the right option. It costs less that having your own car because you don't have to pay for gas. A bus or BART can also accommodate many people and is a great option for people with disabilities that might need more room than in a car. I think that now days more and more people have started using Uber instead of taking public transportation. Uber does not lower our CO2 level because it is still using a car.  Some people use Uberpool, which is a carpool for Uber. This is still not better than just taking public transportation. It might be a carpool, but one car still can not hold as many people as a bus or BART.
