Wind Power
I think that the world should begin using wind power as a main energy source. In Maryland, they are pursuing offshore wind energy. Not only does this reduce the state's carbon footprint, but it also boosts the economy by creating jobs. Instead of burning fossil fuels which emits lots of CO2 into the atmosphere, we should try to rely more on wind power. There are many advantages to wind power, the most pertinent one being that it drastically reduces our carbon footprints.
Using wind as our main energy source is a definitely a great option. There are some difficulties with this though. It is expensive, wind is inconsistent, and it does not produce as much energy as we want it to. Although it takes a lot of money and many installations of wind turbines, I think that if we commit to wind being the main energy source, it will greatly benefit us.
I agree with both of you. Wind power, although it is expensive, can still sometimes be unreliable. However, like you said, in places like Maryland where there are higher wind speeds, it is highly advantageous to use. The idea of creating windmills/turbines offshore sounds very promising to me as well, since there are usually even higher wind speeds on the ocean. Anyways though, with this resource of course being expensive and difficult to gain energy from, it could take a long time to power much of the modern world with it.
Yes I agree. Wind power would definitely benefit the economy in the long term. Since things like gas are non-renewable resources and will eventually run out. Wind power could be an alternative if when/if that happens.
Wind would be a great alternate source of energy, though there are many disadvantages of having wind power as a main contributor of energy. Maybe if it was used as an alternate between solar and wind, where if the wind was stronger then your house or etc would switch to that or if it was a still, sunny day than your house or etc would switch to solar power for the day.
