Clothing

Most of our clothing is manufactured in international countries. Hardly any of our clothes are from the USA. To transport clothing from a foreign country to the USA emits a lot of carbon dioxide. Most people don't know that you can get clothes locally. People can go to farms to get wool or cotton and get it within a few hours away.

I agree with this. Shipping from different countries takes a lot of energy. Making clothes locally would take less energy and emit less carbon dioxide. Some organizations, such as Fibershed, create clothing that is eco-friendly and local. You don't need to buy clothes internationally to get clothing.

I agree with you, the transportation of the clothes far away created many problems. For an example, clothes from China are brought over most likely on a big cargo ship. That cargo ship releases tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. You are also looking at most clothes from foreign countries are made in factories and those factories create tons of CO2 in the atmosphere. Buying clothes locally will most likely be made with care and not in factories.

I agree with all of you. Also, in addition to these factories overseas being bad for the environment, many of them take part in unethical practices. For example, many manufacturing companies in other countries employ children and pay their workers very low salaries.

Transportation of any sorts pollutes CO2 into the air and causes the greenhouse effect. On such a large industry where over 97% of clothes are made and transported over seems it is killing the environment. There are thousands of boats and plains flying every year to transport clothes for people in America and it is adding more and more CO2 into the air exponentially.
