Transportation

Where I live, and I'm sure in other places, the government has decided to reduce the amount of lanes on the road to make more bike pathways. I both agree and disagree with this idea. Making bike lanes to encourage drivers/more people to bike instead of driving is a creative and somewhat logical idea. However, what about during the winter? Not many people enjoy biking in the rain and cold. And especially during the winter more and more heaters are being used because of the lower temperatures. By reducing the amount of lanes for vehicles on the road to make more bike lanes, during the winter there's a possibility of traffic, which leads to idling, which leads to more and more fossil fuels being released into the atmosphere which does not benefit the environment but might actually make it worse. Aside all the negatives, if biking isn't the best way to get around, public transportation and carpooling could be another possibility. Carpooling could help by reducing the amount of cars on the road  releasing carbon and public transportation like buses also helps.

The use of to much transportation is a big problem in our society. This is because, every car, train, bus that is moving is polluting into the atmosphere. I mean we have carpool lanes for a reason! If we can decrease the amount of vehicles on the road as possible, by carpooling, taking the city bus etc the less pollution we would be releasing. And less traffic on the road.  There are also other ways to get places. Like riding a bike, walking things like that.

I think they need the road space but also we need bike lanes so how about we just keep the roads and add bike lanes

the problem is, there isn't always enough space for both of them, that is why they have been converting them
