Zero waste lifestyle

gloriabruschi

2 years ago I had a science teacher that did a presentation about Bea Johnson and her philosophy of zero waste.
Bea Johnson is the founder of the zero waste lifestyle movement and since 2008 with a lifestyle based on “Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot” she began to reduce her family’s trash to a simply jar.
She has an interesting website where you can find information about her experience, her zero waste home, her book, talks and mostly important and curious where you can buy sustainable products. Take a look https://zerowastehome.com
She promotes reusable products for shopping (bottles, bags, containers, jars..), kitchen (washcloths, jars, scoops..), hygiene & beauty (powder brushes, hair brushes, spray bottles, menstrual cups..), housekeeping (spray bottles, dusters..), garden, office & school, clothing and so on.
She began her zero waste lifestyle from her home and I think that we can learn a lot about her experience.
I could not live a lifestyle like hers b ut I am trying to begin changing little things for example using reusable shopping bags, menstrual cups.. and if everyone could do the same, together we can make the difference.

thankyou for sharing this amazing example! I was just talking about spreading positive example thru social media in a post and I coudn't bring any real account as an example, because there aren't many big accounts with this values on instagram,  but now that you talked about Bea Johnson I'm happy to look her ideas and suggestions on how to reduce my carbon footprint (at least a little bit)

Yes, I also think the zero waste policy is very intriguing. I learned a lot of valuable information through Bea Johnson’s action.

I saw a video about this as well, I thought it was very interesting and something that would be amazing to explore further. I wish it was more realistic for more people

I think this is a good idea, but this might be hard for the average person to do. To help, I think we should pressure companies to make their packaging out of materials that can be recycled. Also, there should be more recycling bins in each neighborhood. This way fewer materials would be used and factories would produce fewer carbon emissions.
