Island of plastic
In the Ocean Pacific, there is an island of 3 million of tons of plastics, that is a big how the Iberian Peninsula. It is accumulating from 1980.
The turtles and others animals eat a lot of trash and than they die. We are the cause of their die, because we use and than throw the trash (most plastic), in places we should not. This is such an important topic to draw attention to. These garbage patches are affecting our oceans and their inhabitants greatly. There is also a huge problem of garbage washing up on beaches as well. This is another huge problem that needs to be addressed.
I read an article on this once, it is a very prominent issue that must be addressed. The great pacific garbage patch is the size of Texas, which is an enormous state. There are people inventing robots to clean it up but that will not be enough to stop the cumulation of the garbage patch.
I agree with this statement and I feel that we should spread awareness because most don't realize that there is 15–51 trillion pieces of plastic in oceans and that for every square mile of ocean anywhere on earth is polluted with plastic. This plastic pollution kills upwards of 1 million marine animals and birds each year. Even producing plastic is bad for our earth as about 6 kg of carbon dioxide is created during production and incineration of plastic.
