Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

NORTH CAROLINA CARBON FOOTPRINT
Alexis Mooresville North Carolina, USA -16 years old
My carbon footprint total came out to be 98,486kgs which is high above my regions average and my class average. The majority of my footprint comes out of my transportation mostly because I do a lot of driving. Between school, work and running my necessary errands I spend a lot of time behind the wheel, especially because it is a 30 minute trip into town. I was surprised to see my transportation score to be so high mostly because I did not think I drove much more than other students. I learned that just by having a job it puts an extra 40 miles on my car a week and because most students do not work part time it put my transportation average above theirs. I have thought about my transportation footprint and one way I could lower it would be to carpool or use public transportations whenever I can, to not run my air conditioning in the car to preserve gas as well as only driving where I need to and limiting the driving to places where I don’t have to go.
