Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint- KayaB
Hi there! My name is Kaya and I am from Mooresville, NC, USA. I am 17 years old and in the 11th grade. My personal Carbon Footprint was 17137 kgs. This is slightly above average for my region. When I was filling out the form, it was difficult to do myself as an individual because I come from a family of 10 people. So, it was easier to calculate the Carbon Footprint for my family, so that is more representative of my family than of me. The majority of our Carbon Footprint came from the food that we consume, because as a large family we eat quite a bit of food. I had figured that my family would have a large Carbon Footprint, so the results didn’t really surprise me in that they were higher than the average, but they did surprise me in the sense that they were actually not that much higher than the regions average and in fact, our average was actually lower than the overall class average. The fact that our food footprint was so much higher than the average didn’t really surprise me, but I did think that it was sad because so many people don’t have the amount of food that m y family has to eat. To decrease our carbon footprint, we could eat organic foods more often and eat less processed food, as that is where the majority of our footprint came from.
