Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

D'Asia, Mooresville, NC, USA, 16
My name is D'Asia, I am from Mooresville, North Carolina, USA. I am 16 years old. My carbon footprint average was 13,851 kgs. My total was below the average in North Carolina which is 15,918. The majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation. This is because I drive a lot, I drive to school, to my family members house, to the mall, and we go on vacation a lot. Another contribution would be that I took two plane flights recently. I am also planning on flying to another country in the near future. My overall results surprised me because I thought that I would be over the average just a little because I go out to eat almost every night, I recycle some but not as much as I should, I drive everyday, I also go shopping very frequently. I learned that even though my habits aren't the best I’m not hurting the environment as much. I could reduce my every day routine to improve my footprint. But as of now I am in a good place. My goal in the future is to become m ore active which means more walking/running which would reduce my transportation footprint a lot. I am also going to start eating healthier like fruits and vegetables which would reduce my food footprint as well.
