Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Carbon Footprint of China

kristenl

When I finish the carbon footprint calculation, and compared to the average Chinese person, it suppressed me a lot that I found out that I exceed the set standard about  8 times or so. Which is totally unacceptable, as we want to live in this planet for the future and being intergenerational, we should do something to change current situation. From my observation, I found that transportation occupy the most, so we should travel less or try to ride bikes instead of any transportation tools; Then, when we are leaving a room, remember to close the AC and the lights before we go. What's more, we shouldn't waste resources, especially the unrenewable ones, like water, electricity, gasoline, minerals...etc

I really like your ideas for changing your lifestyle to decrease your carbon footprint. I also have to change my lifestyle to decrease my carbon footprint. This activity was a real eye opener and now I know what I have to change and not change. Good Job!
