Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Carpooling Benefits
Carpooling is a very interesting topic to me. I believe carpooling was one of the factors that did increase my total for transportation because I rarely to never carpool. But as I understand it, carpooling has many benefits. First, it lessens the traffic on the road. This seems quite obvious, especially in North America, but no actions are taken to fix the problem. Second, it reduces the CO2 emission from the cars on the road. The CO2 emission will decrease as the number of cars on the road decrease. Third, according to Environment Canada and the University of Ottawa carpooling can reduce your risk of respiratory diseases, cardiovascular disease, allergies and neurological effects. This was the most interesting fact I found through my research. Though I believe it makes logical sense. The emissions from the car can trigger allergies and as smoking deteriorates your lungs, the exhaust from the car can affect your lungs as well. I believe I can try to challenge myse lf to carpool more and after, take the carbon challenge again and see if I can reduce my carbon footprint. (http://www.protection.uottawa.ca/en/Car … efits.html)
I totally agree with you Anushka, 100% to be exact. Carpooling is something I didn't really think would reduce diseases like respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and furthermore allergies and neurological effects. That is something I learned through your post and thank you for educating me on that. Second of all, carpooling does not only save time and energy, along with reducing traffic on the road, it also saves people gas money. For example, if someone is driving six people, including themselves to a far away place, like L.A. they would only have to stop for gas a few times and save much more money compared to people driving separate cars and spending that money simply on gas.
Third of all, many people find carpooling as a nice way to have a companion with them wherever they are going. Also, they are beating the traffic by being able to join the carpool lane. Ever since I was little carpooling is something I have always done because as you can see there are so many positive effects that can happen when you carpool. Lastly, there can be some social effects to carp ooling. Say you and your friends are going to the same place for a sport or something along those lines; you drive together and you get to have fun well as helping your atmosphere. I encourage everyone who needs to transport somewhere that involves a car, to carpool as much as they can!
