Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?
Sustainable City >
The Best Place to Live
Envisioning a Utopian world, every thing would be environmentally friendly and able to sustain itself. The people would all live in equal sized homes which they could modify to their own tastes in any way as long as they are the same size. Having the homes the same size is better because a bigger house has more rooms that need air conditioning, heating, and lighting. Also homes and stores would have lots of windows to use the majority of the time when it's nice outside. In addition every light would be solar powered. The stores would only sell minimal meat and never any that would create a large amount of greenhouse gases to produce the meat. Also all the packaging would be made out of a easily recyclable material that is easier to compose. Every two blocks there would be trash cans and recycling bins as well causing the world to be clean of random garbage covering it. Farmers would use a method of farming to produce many crops. Everybody would use common transportation and it would be actually comfortable. One thing that makes people less favorable of carpooling or ridi ng on public transportation is because they are surrounded by people you don't know and it's uncomfortable. In this place there would be happier people who build a community where it's safe. All the families will try to have under five children if possible so that there is not extensive amounts of people in one family leading to overpopulation. Instead of lots of unnecessary wasting of trees by printing everybody papers, the schools would use electronics like tablets to get their information under files as often as possible. Also the schools would use recycled material for desks and benches. This is my idealistic world because I think the way we are living now is very unacceptable for the atmosphere and our planet to continuously take in.
