Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Rebecca. Mooresville, North Carolina, USA. 16 years old.
My total carbon footprint was 9865. My total was below the average from the US. The majority of my carbon footprint is from my house. My results were lower than I expected. I thought that my results would have been above 15000. What surprised me was that my transportation score was relatively low. I learned to be more aware of the resources I’m using. I think to decrease my footprint I could take shorter showers and reduce water and electricity use.
