Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Recycling: Good, but also bad
Recycling has been seen as a very positive thing in our society, but did you know that recycling has cons to it? According to this website (http://www.conserve-energy-future.com/a … ycling.php), recycling has its disadvantages. First off, recycling stations are very unsafe and not hygienic, which causes it to be very harmful for the human people who work there. Even recycling plants put pollutants into the air! Also, recycling plants are not wide spread around the world, so it is harder to promote recycling. This shows that more should be done on the issue of recycling in order to improve how it affects the earth, but also how other people around the world should have the ability to also recycle in their communities.
This is an interesting point that i had never considered! People tend to think that it's fine to live in excess as long as you're recycling, but this made me realize that really, its better to just not use as many materials in the first place, since recycling doesn't fully transform the material back to where it was without money and good technology. I will definitely be trying to not use as many materials to start with, and I hope the information that recycling also has downfalls will be spread around to people so they know that there are other steps you can take that don't involve recycling!
This is a great post! Most people attempt to help the environment by recycling, and this brings about the reality that humans are always polluting the environment, even when we try to help. I had no idea about the negative affects recycling plants had on the people who were employed there. It's slightly ironic that in a recycling plant it can be deemed unsanitary and a pollutant. I found this new information very interesting, and I would like to hear ideas about how we can recycle and prevent harm to the planet.
