A new study has been released by the American Public Transportation Association has proved that households that live closest to forms of public transportation are the most energy efficient. (http://www.apta.com/passengertransport/ … e_4682.htm) When people have the opportunity to use public mods of transportation is a way that is convenient for them, they usually do it. This report shows that the households closest to the public transit systems are driving an average of 4,400 miles less than those who are not. The communities that have invested many resources into the development of public transportation systems are currently reducing our nation's annual carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons each year. People want to save the world. When given the right tools to do so, they are more motivated to do so. Communities that put in the money and effort to build a public transit system are benefiting greatly from the investment. Spread the word and advo cate to get a better mode of public transportation for your city. And if your city already has one in a convenient area to you, I would advise you to really think about taking advantage of it.
