Fuel from Chicken Feed?
In most industrial farms, chickens are fed a mix of chicken feed, animal fats, blood and chicken innards (a very disgusting mix). However, the chicken feather meal actually has a high amount of nitrogen and can be used as fertilizers. The chicken fat, if taken separated from the chicken feed, can be processed and further used as biodiesel, and the rest of the feed would be better for the chickens to eat. Studies say that if we can continue this with the number of chicken feather meal that’s already produced, we could produce 153 million gallons (579168002.952 liters) of biodiesel in the US. Scientists have also said that chicken feathers (if heated to the right temperature) are really good for storing hydrogen and saves them lots of money for using expensive equipment to store it because chicken feathers are cheap and easily accessible.
