Sustainable City

Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.

What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

An important factor in a city

You might have already played this very famous video game called SimCity, where you are a major of a small town and, with intelligence/economy/politics, you develop it: the goal is to build a fully functional and efficient metropolis.
Why am I talking about this video game? Because it actually teaches you how a city works, why taxes can change everything, why a good transport system can boost your economy, why parks and threes are important, etc.
Like in real life (if we block our vision to the core of the average city), roads play a very important part in the local economy: the bad part is the fact that they are run by cars and, as everyone knows, cars pollute the environment. Of course not all type of cars pollute in the same way, but you can imagine what's going on in the average city.
Sure people need to travel, so you can't just stop cars. Instead, you need to find an alternative. I think the game changer here are public transports.
And I'm talking by direct experience: where I live, you can literally live without a car, because every ~20 minutes there is a bus goin g to the city, even if you live 10km away. The same is true for trains and boats.
It works not just because they exist, but because they are comfortable and punctuality here is the keyword.
If you offer a "service" similar to a car but cheaper, people will (of course) like it! You may argue that all of this is not free and it's a big investment and so too risky. The argument is valid so I can't really reply back: it all depends on how big is your desire to save the environment. It is known that Earth is playing on a slower time than us.

So, what do you think? Would you like public transports in your city/town?
