Sustainable City

Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.

What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

finance the experts' projects

I would have days where cars with an even number plate can drive and cars where an odd number plate can drive, just like in Paris, except with a lot more days. As far as traffic and cars are concerned, i would impose a fine (as a deterrent) for those who leave the engine on at the red light. In addition to this, my ideal city would have a strict "no Bentleys, Ferraris or Rolls Royce cars" rule, because they are among the worst fuel economy vehicles in the world. I know I am saying something controversial among the wealthy, but I hope people are more ashamed of polluting the world than they are proud to brag about  their good fortune smile My ideal city would also finance eco-friendly projects that build new electronic devices. It would invest a lot of money in the development of batteries for electric cars which charge quickly... If these were to be developed and efficient, i wouldn't impose that they be used, but I would impose that they were highly publicised, so as to improve their reputation and encourage further propaganda (My justification for this kind of brain washi ng is that it is for the preservation of our species) .Even if my city were really hilly, I would have electric elevators built so that everyone can use bikes. I would convince important political and television personalities to use electric bikes: this could work as a bandwagon kind of commercial. The government leaders would also always include a scientist specialised in global working, so as to be advised by a panel of experts when making further decisions. I would also shamelessly copy and take example from the world's most eco-friendly cities : http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/2014121 … dly-cities

If you have any further suggestions, please let me know smile
